# 💡How to Add, Deactivate, Map and Unmap Virtual DSM License?

This guide explains how to manage **Virtual DSM** licenses on your Synology NAS > **Virtual Machine Manager.**

**What You Can Do:**

- Add, view, and manage Virtual DSM licenses.
- Purchase Virtual DSM licenses online.
- Monitor license usage, expiration, and activated hosts.

**Virtual DSM:**

- **Adding Licenses:**
  - Go to **Virtual Machine Manager > License > Virtual DSM**.
  - Follow the wizard to agree to terms, log in, and enter the license number.
  - Each host gets one free license, and additional licenses can be purchased online.
- **Buying Online:**
  - Follow the wizard to confirm details, agree to terms, and purchase.
- **Deactivating Licenses:**
  - Go to **License > Virtual DSM**, select a license, and click **Deactivate**.
- **Mapping and Unmapping Licenses:**
  - Use **Virtual Machine > Action > Edit > License** or power on an unauthorized Virtual DSM.
  - Choose to use an existing license or add a new one.
  - **Unmapping removes the license from a VM, so understand the consequences before doing so.**
