# Activating Synology Surveillance Licenses Offline

Offline license activation exists because the normal path does not work in an isolated network: the NAS itself has to reach Synology’s servers to verify a key. If your Surveillance Station has no route to the Internet, you can complete the handshake from a device that does, in one of two ways.

If your Surveillance Station is working under an isolated network, you can activate surveillance license by either way below :

- **Synology Surveillance Station Client ( Win/Mac )**
- **DS cam ( iOS/Android )**

## **Method 1: Surveillance Station Client (Windows or Mac)**

1. **Connect to the Internet:** On a Win/Mac, install and launch **Surveillance Station Client**. ( Download from [Synology here](https://archive.synology.com/download/Utility/SurveillanceStationClient). )
2. **Manage licenses:** Log in and click the gear icon in the bottom right corner. Go to **License Management** and then **Manage License**.
3. **Add or delete licenses:** Select **Add License/Delete License**. Agree to the terms and choose a server from your list. Enter the license keys and confirm.
4. **Go offline:** Take that same computer to the isolated network where the NAS lives. The authorisation it just collected travels with the client.
5. **Connect and activate:** Launch the client on your NAS and sign in. The licenses will automatically activate or deactivate.

## **Method 2: DS cam (iOS or Android)**

1. **Connect to the internet:** On a mobile device with internet access, launch the **DS cam** app.
2. **Manage licenses:** Log in and tap the menu icon in the bottom left corner. Select **Offline License Validation** and then **Manage License > Add License/Delete License**.
3. **Add or delete licenses:** Agree to the terms and choose a server, or tap **Add Server** and enter details. Enter the license keys and confirm.
4. **Go offline:** Take the phone onto the isolated network where the NAS lives. The authorisation it just collected travels with the app.
5. **Connect and activate:** Launch the app on your NAS and sign in. The licenses will automatically activate or deactivate.

## **What Offline Activation Cannot Do**

- Offline license activation only covers **active licenses**. You can add or delete those; anything else needs the NAS online.
- Deactivated licenses can be reused for new accounts and Synology NAS.

One thing is worth ruling out before any offline procedure: [what a Synology license keygen does to your NAS](https://synopower.club/official-synology-license-packs-are-best-choice/).
