The Synology FC600 went on sale worldwide on 23 September 2026, more than two years after Synology first showed it at its June 2024 Solution Exhibition. There was no press release. The launch simply appeared as four new videos on Synology’s YouTube channel, all dated the same day, and a product page that quietly switched to “Buy now”. The Synology FC600 is a 6MP, 360-degree fisheye camera designed for ceilings: one lens that covers a whole room, dewarped into several ordinary views in Surveillance Station. This guide covers what the Synology FC600 does, where it fits next to the BC510 and TC510, how it behaves on Surveillance Station versus Surveillance365, and the limits worth knowing before you order one.
SynoPower Club 點： I heard about this launch from Synology staff at Solution Day, not from a newsroom, and the product page backs them up. Here is the part the spec sheet will not tell you: a fisheye is an overview camera, not an identification camera. The Synology FC600 answers “what happened in this room” better than anything else Synology sells, but at 3 metres it is already at the edge of identifying a face. Put it in the middle of the ceiling for the story, and keep a turret on the door for the face.

What Is the Synology FC600?
The Synology FC600 is an indoor fisheye camera with a 1/2.5-inch sensor, a fixed 1.53 mm F2.0 lens and a 2560×2560 image at 30 frames per second. The lens covers 187 degrees horizontally and vertically, so a single camera on the ceiling sees the whole floor below it. Synology’s own shorthand for it is “one fisheye equals four cameras”.
It is the fifth model in the current Synology camera line, and at Solution Day 2026 it was listed as one of four Synology cameras that connect straight to Surveillance365. My write-up of that event covers the rest of the roadmap: Synology Solution Day 2026 recap.

The other Synology cameras point in one direction. The Synology FC600 looks straight down and sees everything, which changes what it is good at.

Two rows matter most. The Synology FC600 detects people but not vehicles, which is fine indoors and a problem anywhere cars are involved. And it has no weather rating, so it is an indoor camera only. For outdoor or vehicle work, look at the bullet and turret instead: Synology BC510 評測.

- Coverage: 187° horizontal, vertical and diagonal with lens distortion correction on. DORI distances are 30 m detection, 12 m observation, 6 m recognition and 3 m identification.
- Video: 2560×2560 at 30 FPS, H.264 and H.265, multi-exposure HDR, 3D and 2D noise reduction, Smart Bitrate Control.
- Night: 850 nm infrared up to 10 m, automatic IR-cut filter.
- Audio and I/O: microphone, line in and line out, plus digital input and output through the included terminal block.

Synology FC600 Setup in 4 Steps
Synology published separate setup videos for installing the hardware, for Surveillance Station and for Surveillance365. The four steps below follow them.
Mount it on the ceiling
Use the included mounting template sticker to mark the holes near the centre of the room, then fix the camera with the supplied screws. A ceiling mount gives the full 360-degree view; a wall mount is also supported and suits the 180-degree panoramic view.
Connect power and network
Run one cable from an 802.3af PoE switch or injector. A PoE+ switch also works because it is backward compatible. If there is no PoE, use a 12V 2A DC adapter, which is sold separately.
Add it to Surveillance Station or Surveillance365
In Surveillance Station, add the camera from the IP Camera page and assign a device license. For Surveillance365, pair the camera to your account and insert a microSD card for recording.
Choose a dewarping view and set analytics
Pick the view that suits the room, such as quad view or 1O+3R, then set up people detection, intrusion zones or people counting. Check the result at night because the infrared range is 10 metres.
Dewarping: One Lens, Several Views
A raw fisheye image is a distorted circle. Dewarping turns it into flat views that look like ordinary cameras. Synology lists four dewarping types for the Synology FC600:
- 1O+3R: the original circle plus three regional views, useful when you want context and detail on the same screen.
- 180-degree panoramic: the natural choice for a wall mount facing into a room.
- 1P+2R: one panorama plus two regional views.
- Quad view: four regional views, which is where “one fisheye equals four cameras” comes from.
The dewarped streams run at a lower frame rate than the main image. On Surveillance Station the ceiling panorama is listed at 2560×640 at 15 FPS and the four-region view at 1280×960 at 10 FPS, while the full fisheye circle stays at 30 FPS. For watching a room that is plenty. For fast movement, record the full circle and dewarp during playback.

All analytics run on the camera itself, so a regular Synology NAS is enough. There is no need for a DVA. On Surveillance Station the Synology FC600 supports:
- 人員檢測, which filters out moving shadows, curtains and pets.
- People counting by line crossing or area, with live counting across cameras and exportable counting reports.
- 入侵偵測 in one or both directions across a virtual line.
- Crowd and loitering detection for queues, lobbies and waiting areas.

People counting is the feature that makes a fisheye worth its price. A ceiling camera sees everyone from above without people hiding behind each other, which is exactly the view a counting line needs.
Surveillance Station vs Surveillance365 on the Synology FC600
The Synology FC600 works on both platforms, but the feature list is noticeably shorter in the cloud. This comes from Synology’s software specification table:

How Synology FC600 Licensing Works
Synology’s product page is clear that a Surveillance Device License is required when the Synology FC600 records to a NAS through Surveillance Station. Every NAS includes two free licenses, so the first two cameras of any brand cost nothing extra. Beyond that you need one license per camera, bought once rather than as a subscription.
The fisheye does not change that arithmetic. The Synology FC600 is one camera and uses one device license, even when Surveillance Station splits it into four dewarped views. Synology’s own NAS setup video confirms this: the FC600 appears as a single entry in the IP Camera list. That is the real value behind “one fisheye equals four cameras”: four views of a room for the license cost of one.

Limits to Know Before You Buy the Synology FC600
- Indoor only. There is no IP or IK rating and the operating range is −10°C to 45°C. Do not put it under an eave or in an unheated warehouse that freezes.
- No vehicle detection. The analytics are people-only. Car parks, driveways and loading bays need a BC510 or BC800Z.
- Overview, not identification. Synology’s own DORI figures put identification at 3 m. Faces at the edge of the circle will not be usable as evidence.
- Plan the PoE budget. At 11.5 W it draws more than twice as much as a BC510. Count it properly when sizing a switch.
- Fast Ethernet only. The port is 10/100 Mbps, which is enough for the stream but worth knowing if you expected gigabit.
- Cloud is the lighter option. On Surveillance365 you lose dewarped sub-streams, people counting, Instant Search and Auto Tracking.
- Mind privacy. A camera that sees an entire room also sees everything in it. Use the privacy masks (up to 5 zones) around screens, desks and changing areas, and check local rules on recording audio.

Does it work with third-party NVRs?
Yes. It supports ONVIF, so it can be used with other NVR and VMS platforms, although the AI features are designed for Surveillance Station.
Is a microSD card included with the Synology FC600?
No. The slot accepts exFAT cards. Synology recommends its own microSD cards, or a Class 10, U1, V10 card with at least 10 MB/s write speed.
