A Synology MailPlus License is what lets MailPlus Server host more than the five email accounts every installation starts with. The Synology MailPlus License 5-Account Pack (MLP5) adds five more mailboxes to your own mail server — bought once, never renewed, and running on hardware you already own.
MailPlus turns a Synology NAS into a full mail server: your own domain, your own storage, no per-seat monthly bill. The MailPlus Server package is free to install; the license simply governs how many email accounts it may host. Each key is perpetual and one-time, with free lifetime upgrades and no expiry date to diary.
Keys are entered inside MailPlus Server itself and register against the NAS, so mailboxes can come and go without consuming anything extra.

MLP5 or MLP20 — Which Synology MailPlus License Pack Fits?
Both packs contain the same kind of license and differ only in how many accounts one key carries. MLP5 suits a small team topping up the five free accounts; the 20-Account Pack (MLP20) is the better buy once you are staffing a whole department and would rather manage one key than four. Order two or more keys of either pack and a further 3% comes off at checkout.
Which Accounts Actually Consume a License?
Licenses are counted against the email accounts you enable in MailPlus Server — not against domains, not against devices. Hosting three domains on one server is free; it is the number of active mailboxes that has to stay within your licensed total. So count the people who need their own inbox, then subtract the five that came with the server.
Requirements, NAS Limits and Moving Licenses Between NAS Units
MailPlus Server runs on Synology NAS models that support it, and activation needs an internet connection and a Synology Account — the key is tied to that account when it is applied. Mail is disk- and memory-hungry compared with file sharing, so check your model’s MailPlus Server requirements before moving a busy domain onto it.
Licenses carry no regional restriction. Migrating to a new NAS means deleting the license from the old unit first, then activating it on the new one; Synology documents the procedure in its MailPlus license help pages.

Open Synology MailPlus Server on your NAS.
Go to License > Add License.
Agree to the terms and sign in with your Synology Account.
Paste the MailPlus license key we sent to your email.
