This guide explains how to manage Virtual DSM licenses on your Synology NAS > Virtual Machine Manager.
What You Can Do:
- Add, view, and manage Virtual DSM licenses.
- Purchase Virtual DSM licenses online.
- Monitor license usage, expiration, and activated hosts.
Virtual DSM:
- Adding Licenses:
- Go to Virtual Machine Manager > License > Virtual DSM.
- Follow the wizard to agree to terms, log in, and enter the license number.
- Each host gets one free license, and additional licenses can be purchased online.
- Buying Online:
- Follow the wizard to confirm details, agree to terms, and purchase.
- Deactivating Licenses:
- Go to License > Virtual DSM, select a license, and click Deactivate.
- Mapping and Unmapping Licenses:
- Use Virtual Machine > Action > Edit > License or power on an unauthorized Virtual DSM.
- Choose to use an existing license or add a new one.
- Unmapping removes the license from a VM, so understand the consequences before doing so.
